11 Months Baby: Development, Feeding and Sleep
Around eleven months, many babies cruise confidently, communicate with gestures and sounds and feed themselves more independently. The first birthday is close, though standing and first steps arrive across a very wide range of ages.
These guides describe common developmental patterns, not deadlines. Every baby develops at their own pace.

What this month looks like
Development
Confident cruising, standing while holding on and using gestures and responsive babble are common. Some babies take first independent steps; many don't yet, and that's fine.
Feeding
Self-feeding usually becomes more skilled. Offering family-style soft foods and letting your baby lead portions supports healthy eating.
Sleep
Sleep may shift as movement and awareness grow. Keep expectations flexible and the routine steady.
Play
Stacking, posting shapes and simple pretend play support coordination and thinking. Naming everyday objects builds language.
Safety
Standing and cruising raise new risks — anchor furniture, guard stairs and keep hot items and small objects well out of reach.
Medical guidance
Raise any concerns before the one-year check. Contact your doctor if your baby isn't pulling to stand or cruising, or if you notice a loss of skills.
