10 Months Baby: Development, Feeding and Sleep
Around ten months, many babies cruise while holding furniture, use gestures like waving and pointing, and some say a first word with meaning. Communication and independence are growing quickly — always within a wide, healthy range.

What this month looks like
Development
Cruising, gestures such as waving, clapping and pointing, and responsive babble are common. Some babies say a first word around now.
Feeding
Independence at meals often grows, with more finger foods and attempts at a spoon or cup. Milk feeds continue alongside.
Sleep
Practising new skills can spill into sleep. A calm, predictable wind-down remains the most reliable support.
Play
Gesture games, simple picture books and push-along toys support movement and communication.
Safety
With cruising and standing, secure furniture, keep cords and hot drinks out of reach and re-check your babyproofing at floor level.
Medical guidance
Bring questions about movement, hearing or speech to routine visits. Contact your doctor if your baby isn't using any gestures or sounds.
