1 Month Baby: Development, Feeding and Sleep
Around one month, many babies become a little more alert and settled between feeds. You may notice early cooing sounds and brief moments of eye contact. Patterns are still loose, and that is completely normal at this stage.
These guides describe common developmental patterns, not deadlines. Every baby develops at their own pace.

What this month looks like
Development
Some babies begin lifting their head briefly during tummy time and may make early throaty coos. Movements gradually become a little smoother than the newborn weeks.
Feeding
Feeding often becomes a little more predictable, though frequent feeds remain common. Cluster feeding in the evening is normal for many babies.
Sleep
Sleep is still spread across the day and night. Some babies start to have one slightly longer stretch, but this varies a great deal.
Play
High-contrast patterns, gentle songs and slow face-to-face time suit this age. Keep tummy time short and supervised.
Safety
Continue back-to-sleep and a clear, firm sleep surface. Check bath water temperature and never leave your baby unattended on a raised surface.
Medical guidance
Keep up with scheduled check-ups and immunisations. Contact your paediatrician about persistent feeding difficulty, fever, or if anything feels off.
