Overview
What is MAMATA (Odisha)?
MAMATA is Odisha's conditional cash-transfer maternity scheme, designed to improve maternal and child nutrition and to encourage healthy behaviour — antenatal care, institutional delivery and immunisation.
Under revised 2024 guidelines the total transfer was enhanced (historically ₹5,000; doubled to about ₹10,000) and is paid in instalments to the mother's bank account as she meets each condition during pregnancy and after the birth. The scheme runs in convergence with the national PMMVY.
The benefit covers the first two live births; the ‘first two’ norm is relaxed for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
