โœ“ Usually normal

  • Mild fever (below 38.5ยฐC) in the first 24โ€“48 hours
  • Tender, slightly red or swollen injection spot
  • Extra sleepiness, fussiness or a smaller feed or two
  • For MMR / chickenpox vaccines: possible mild fever or faint rash 5โ€“12 days later

๐Ÿšจ Call the doctor / go to hospital now

  • Trouble breathing, or swelling of the face, lips or tongue
  • Fever of 40ยฐC or higher โ€” or ANY fever if your baby is under 3 months
  • A seizure (fit), unusual floppiness, or being very hard to wake
  • Inconsolable crying for more than 3 hours

Comfort first: feeds on demand, light clothing, extra cuddles, and a cool damp cloth on a sore injection spot. Paracetamol only for a genuinely feverish, uncomfortable child โ€” in the dose your doctor has advised for your child's weight. Never give aspirin to children.
